Notifications

Configure how and when you receive updates from Mallory.

SMS Notifications

Mallory keeps your family in the loop by text. To-do reminders, updates, and replies all arrive as SMS messages, so everyone stays on top of the shared list without needing the app.

To manage SMS notifications:

  1. Go to Settings → Notifications
  2. Make sure SMS is enabled for the family members you want to keep updated
  3. Confirm each person's phone number is correct

Family members who don't use the app can still add, complete, and check on to-dos entirely over text.

Daily Summaries

Receive a daily summary of your family's to-dos so everyone knows what's on the list.

To set up daily summaries:

  1. Go to Settings → Notifications
  2. Check "Send me a daily summary of my to-dos"
  3. Choose where to receive it (Email and/or SMS)
  4. Select your preferred time of day

The summary includes the to-dos due over the next 24 hours and who's responsible for each.

Quiet Hours

Set a time window when you don't want to receive any notifications from Mallory.

To set quiet hours:

  1. Go to Settings → Notifications → Quiet Hours
  2. Check "Enable quiet hours"
  3. Set your start time (e.g., 10:00 PM)
  4. Set your end time (e.g., 7:00 AM)

During quiet hours, Mallory won't send any notifications. Urgent reminders will be queued and sent when quiet hours end.

Managing Notification Preferences

Each family member can customize their own notification preferences:

  • Go to Settings from the main menu
  • Scroll to the Notifications section
  • Adjust daily summaries, SMS notifications, and quiet hours
  • Changes are saved automatically
Notification Best Practices
  • Keep everyone looped in: Enable SMS for family members who don't use the app
  • Use quiet hours: Prevent late-night notifications from disrupting sleep
  • Lean on summaries: A daily summary is a low-noise way to stay on top of to-dos
  • Adjust as needed: Fine-tune your settings based on what works for your family
