Event Management
Learn how to create, edit, and manage events with Mallory.
There are multiple ways to add events to your family calendar:
1. Manually in the app:
- • Click the "+" button on the dashboard
- • Fill in event details (title, date, time, attendees)
- • Add optional details like location, travel time, and recurrence
- • Click "Create Event"
2. Through connected sources:
- • Mallory automatically detects events from Gmail
- • Events sync from Google Calendar and iCal
- • Mention events in WhatsApp or SMS group chats
Each event can include the following information:
- •Title: Required - what's the event?
- •Date & Time: Required - when does it happen?
- •Attendees: Required - who's going? (minimum 1 person)
- •Location: Optional - where is it?
- •Travel Time: Optional - how long to get there?
- •Recurrence: Optional - does it repeat?
- •Dropoff/Pickup: Optional - does someone need to drop off or pick up?
For events like school, sports practice, or activities, you can enable dropoff and pickup options. This splits the event into two separate tasks that different family members can claim.
How it works:
- When creating an event, check "Requires dropoff" and/or "Requires pickup"
- On the dashboard, the event appears as two separate cards (e.g., "Soccer Practice (Dropoff)" and "Soccer Practice (Pickup)")
- Each card has its own "I got it" button
- Different family members can claim dropoff and pickup responsibilities
This is perfect for coordinating who's handling which part of a child's activity schedule.
Family members can claim responsibility for events using the "I got it" button on each event card.
When you click "I got it":
- •The button changes to show your name (e.g., "Dad has it covered")
- •Other family members can see who's handling it
- •You'll receive reminders for that event
When Mallory automatically adds events from your emails or messages, they appear in a different color (amber/yellow) to indicate they haven't been confirmed yet.
To confirm a Mallory-added event:
- Review the event details on the dashboard
- Click "Confirm Event" if the details are correct
- The event changes to the normal color
- Or click "Edit" to make changes before confirming
This helps you catch any mistakes Mallory might make when interpreting emails or messages.
You can edit or cancel any event from the dashboard:
- •Edit: Click "Edit" to modify event details
- •Cancel: Click "Cancel" to remove the event immediately
Changes sync across all connected calendars and family members are notified of updates.
Set up events that repeat on a schedule:
- •Daily: Every day
- •Weekly: Same day each week
- •Monthly: Same date each month
- •Yearly: Same date each year
- •Custom: Set your own interval
